Santa Barbeerians AnnouncementsSurfliner ChallengeOK, it is official, we are going to have the "Surfliner Challenge" with the Maltose Falcons this coming Saturday starting at 3 PM at the Mercury Lounge in Goleta. We'll be sending our best three Imperial Stouts against their best three, may the best beer win! Dawn at the Mercury has graciously offered to open early for us and is allowing us to BBQ there too, so bring some food to grill and share. Since we'll have the place to ourselves, feel free to invite friends and give her some good business too, this is going to be the best non-club mtg "beer alert" of the year.
Surfrider ChallengeJust want to let everyone know we are still waiting for a response from the Falcons about the judging date for the Surfrider Challenge. We're still hoping to have it at the Mercury, Dawn has already graciously agreed to host us there and we can even have a BBQ! This would be next Saturday, Aug 28th.

Barbeerian meeting (and elections!) tomorrow! Saturday Jan 23, 2010Hello Barbeerians, The next meeting is at the Brewhouse 3pm on Saturday January 23rd. It is our election meeting. Be prepared to vote, to run for a position and to pay your dues. We will be judging Flanders Red – please let us know if you have a beer to enter.
Toronado Barleywine Festival starts February 13, 2010Barbeerians! The famous (infamous?) liver challenging Toronado Barleywine Festival starts February 13, 2010 this year. Several of your Barbeerian brethren will be involved in judging the beer, and if history is any indication many more will be busy actively pillaging the place.
Jerry Macala's interview on NPR's "The Story" airs Thursday Jan 14, 2010Hey Barbeerians! I spent quite a bit of the interview talking about my efforts to brew beer at the south pole, so I think you might enjoy this: I was interviewed by NPR's "The Story" regarding my experience in Antarctica. The interview airs tomorrow, Thursday Jan 14, 2010. In Los Angeles you can hear it on KPCC-FM 89.3 at 08:00 PM I don't think it will be heard over the air in Santa Barbara, but you should be able to stream it.
